Spiritual guidance at Holy Family Academy
Spiritual Life – Catholic Church Teaching
While students are not required to be Catholic in order to attend Holy Family Academy, the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are fundamental to the philosophy and purpose of the school. This is clearly stated in our Student Code of Conduct. Religious education is a daily part of student life at HFA. The Faith and Life curriculum is used by grades K-6. The religious education program for 7-12th grade students is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, and papal teachings.
Participation in Catholic sacramental life is strongly encouraged. On Friday of every week, Mass is celebrated for the student body by our pastor, Father Orlando. In order to strengthen and encourage the prayer life of both students and faculty, each grade prays the Rosary twice a week, and once a month, our priests come to the school to hear confession and give spiritual direction.
We come together as a school during the Advent season to prepare and present our annual Christmas concert and Christmas play. This gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the true reason for this season.
We also come together during the Lenten season to prepare ourselves for Easter with the Stations of the Cross every Friday of Lent as well as preparation and presentation of the live Stations of the Cross by both the Elementary and High school classes.
